Image Science Software GmbH was founded in 1990 and is specialised in advanced image processing of large and complex data sets. The IMAGIC image processing package, distributed by Image Science is the commercialised version of a scientific software system developed within the group of Dr. Marin van Heel at the Fritz-Haber-Institute of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Berlin and at the Imperial College in London (UK).
The IMAGIC package contains many standard image processing features and excels in specific directions, such as: mixed radix Fourier transforms, cross correlation alignment algorithms, multivariate statistical analysis, pattern recognition, automatic classification, three-dimensional image processing and reconstruction, etc.
IMAGIC is used by various research institutes in Europe and in the USA and Canada. Image Science was partner and subcontractor in various EU funded projects. Scientific collaborations exist(ed) between Image Science and the Fritz-Haber-Institut in Berlin (Germany) , the Max-Delbrück-Centrum in Berlin (Germany) , the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston (USA) , the Imperial College in London (UK) and others.
